Police invite public to plan National Night Out block parties
The Storm Lake Police Department announces that plans are once again underway for the 2016 National Night Out Event, to be held Tuesday evening, August 2. This is the 33rd annual event which is held in communities across the United States and Canada and at our military bases around the world.
National Night Out is designed for citizens to come out in their neighborhoods one night a year, re-acquaint themselves with their neighbors and commit to each other that they'll work in unity with each other to keep their streets and neighborhoods safe by reporting suspicious and criminal activity.
The SLPD sponsors block parties annually on the evening of National Night Out and works with citizens in a variety of neighborhoods to organize their block parties. In addition the police and fire department along with EMS and other community partners visit the block parties and share information about their organizations and services. The SLPD began organizing National Night Out Events in 1990.
The SLPD invites citizens across the city to organize a block party on their street. If you are interested or have questions please contact Lt. Ray Eickholt at 712-732-8010 or email him at HYPERLINK "mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org" email@example.com.
