St. Mary's presents check for BVRMC's Oncology department
St. Mary's School presented a check for $7,100 to representatives from BVRMC Oncology at the Panthers' home basketball games on Friday, Dec. 11.
The funds were proceeds from the PINK OUT/Cancer Awareness Night held on Friday, Dec. 4. This is the 5th such event organized by St. Mary's since 2012, with this year's amount raised setting a new record. In total, St. Mary's has given just over $32,100 to BVRMC Oncology since 2012. The event is a collaborative effort by parents, students, teachers and coaches and dollars came from a variety of initiatives including t-shirt sales, a coin drive, silent auction, a pre-game meal, and more.
Oncology patients at BVRMC will benefit from the funds raised in several ways. The department plans to purchase a Power Exam Table and Comfort Bags which are complimentary tote bags for cancer patients stocked with useful items.
St. Mary's wishes to thank all who volunteered for the event and who donated to the cause, including these businesses and organizations: Ag Partners, Central Bank, Citizens 1st National Bank, Fareway, Hoffman's, Hv-Vee, Newell Locker, Storm Lake Athletic Boosters, St. Mary's Student Council and Pizza Ranch.
