Thefts at Walmart

* On the afternoon of Thursday, August 20, at approximately 1:32 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Storm Lake Walmart store in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival police met with store staff who were detaining two women who staff alleged stole over $50 in merchandise.

Following an investigation police arrested Lisette Legon, age 35, and Jasmine Niles, age 21, both of Storm Lake, and charged them both with Theft 5th Degree (simple misdemeanor). Both women were booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 bond each.

* On the morning of Friday, August 28, at approximately 10 a.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Storm Lake Walmart store in reference to suspicious activity.

Upon arrival of police they were advised by store staff that an adult couple had been acting in a suspicious manner in the store and were remaining in store for extended periods of time. Police and store loss prevention staff conducted an investigation and allege the two people, identified as Angie Paltz, age 38 of Aurelia, and Christopher Harger, age 41 of Aurelia, were involved in three separate theft incidents in the store.

Following an investigation, police arrested Paltz on Saturday, August 29, at approximately 6 p.m. and charged her with three counts of Theft 5th Degree (simple misdemeanor). She was processed and released pending a court date.

On Sunday, August 30, at approximately 6 p.m., police arrested Harger and charged him with three counts of Theft 5th Degree (simple misdemeanor). He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $900 bond.

Violation of no contact order

On Friday, August 21, the Storm Lake Police Department took a report in reference to a violation of a no contact order.

Police were advised by Buena Vista County Jail Staff that an inmate identified as Lindsay Cobb, age 26 of Alta, allegedly made a phone call from the jail to a person she was prohibited from contacting due to a domestic violence no contact order.

Following an investigation on Friday Storm Lake Police charged Cobb with Violation of a No Contact Order (simple misdemeanor). She was served with her charges while still being held in the county jail.

Identity theft

On Friday, August 21, Storm Lake police filed an additional charge against Alexandria Pratt, age 19 of Wall Lake. Pratt had been previously charged in connection with multiple offenses (see previous press releases) and remains held in the Buena Vista County Jail.

Storm Lake Police allege that on August 3, Pratt presented a stolen check at the Storm Lake Walgreens Store and obtained approximately $45 in merchandise.

The SLPD further charged Pratt on Friday with Identity Theft (aggravated misdemeanor). She was served while being held in the county jail.
