Bloody fight, homemade explosives in SL incident

Homemade bomb equipment seized

Police met with two women at the police station shortly after midnight Wednesday. One was bleeding from a laceration to her head. Police learned that the two women were at a residence in the 900 block of East 5th Street.

An argument broke out between the two women and a male subject at the house. During the argument one of the women allegedly shoved the male, who in turned punched her in the face causing her nose to bleed. The second female armed herself with two kitchen knives and threatened to stab the male. At some point the male party armed himself with a glass bottle and struck the second woman in the head, lacerating her head.

Police identified the two women as Alexandria Pratt, age 19, of Wall Lake, and Alyssa Dowdy, age 20, of Cherokee.

Officers investigating the incident observed the man leaving the residence as a passenger in a vehicle. Police stopped the vehicle and took Charles Feliciano, age 17, of Storm Lake, into custody. He was also suffering from a laceration to the head.

At 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, the Storm Lake Police Department Tactical Entry Team executed a search warrant at the West 5th Street address. They found Dion Caldwell, age 28, of Storm Lake, standing outside the residence and held him.

Officers seized evidence in connection with the fight from the home, and also located homemade explosive devices. Another search warrant was issues for a residence on Elmwood Drive in connection with the incident, but no evidence was found.

Feliciano, Pratt and Dowdy were all examined by medical staff, with Dowdy declining medical attention. Feliciano and Pratt were treated and released at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the fight.

Police charged Feliciano with two counts of Willful Injury, two counts of Assault While Participating in a Felony and one count of Going Armed With Intent (all felonies). He was processed and transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee. His charges will be handled by the Juvenile Court System.

Pratt was charged with Going Armed With Intent and Assault While Participating in a Felony (both felonies). She was booked into the county jail on a $10,000 bond.

Dowdy was charged with Assault and booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.

In connection with the seized explosive devices police charged Caldwell with Possession of Explosive Devices With Intent (a felony) and Public Intoxication He was booked into the county jail on a $10,300 bond.

The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Buena Vista County Attorney's Office and the Buena Vista County Paramedics.
