Parmalee to headline Lakefest
Lakefest will take place on June 21 this year with the North Carolina band Parmalee as the headliner of the concert on Saturday.
Parmalee's latest single, "Carolina" went to No. 1 on the U.S. Country charts in December. They were recently announced as a 2014 semi-finalist for the Academy of Country Music's coveted New Artist of the Year award.
Parmalee consists of two brothers, Matt and Scott Thomas, as well as their cousin Barry Knox. Rounding out the band is lifelong friend, Josh McSwain.
The band has seen recent success as their single, "Carolina" was certified at gold with 685,000 sales since the song was released.
Currently Parmalee has released their single "Close Your Eyes," which is starting to make its way up the charts in number of times played.
Opening for the band this year at Lakefest will be a Des Moines native singer. Brad Morgan is known for his songs, "Perfect For Me;" "Chill By The Water" and "Miles of Our Lives."
Even though he has moved from Des Moines to Nashville to pursue his country music dreams, he still brings the Iowan attitude of hard work and an honest living to his music.
The opener and headliner were announced by Storm Lake United at the launch party on Wednesday evening at KingsPointe.
Tickets for Lakefest will go on sale on April 1. Tickets can be purchased through a variety of different outlets including the website, lakefeststormlake.com.
LakeFest has been an annual summer event since 2011. Other activities taking place on Saturday are the Marina-to-Marina Run, Walk and Roll hosted by Faith Hope and Charity, a bicycle ride around the lake hosted by Lakeshore Cyclery, and the car show put on by Fitzpatrick Auto.
The main event of the weekend is the concert. The concert is held Saturday night on the Great Lawn next to Kings Pointe Resort.
