Arrested pastor raises church council concern
A church council is looking into a reported crime involving a Storm Lake pastor who belongs to the organization and has led a recently-established Pentacostal mission church in Storm Lake, according to a council member who was alerted to the situation by a member of the local church congregation.
Roberto Padilla was arrested in March and charged with Domestic Assault Causing Injury, after allegedly striking his wife several times with his hand and kicking her, according to a police official. Padilla was released on bail a day after his arrest.
Church council officials said they will be meeting with Padilla in Storm Lake to discuss his future. He is currently the church's only pastor, but a council member said that violence is strictly forbidden.
Padilla could be asked to leave the council board and/or his position with the church.
"This is the last thing we would want to hear about one of our pastors," a council member told the Pilot-Tribune.
