Tigers hand SL girls 18th straight loss

Friday, February 1, 2013

STORM LAKE - An 11-win Spencer team handed the Tornadoes their 18th-straight loss this season Tuesday night as they raced out to a 17-2 first quarter lead in a 69-27 final.

The Tornadoes were held to 10-of-32 shooting on the night, including 3-of-12 from three.

Emily Johnson knocked down 4-of-6 attempts to lead the Tornadoes with 10 points on the night. She added three rebounds and two blocks. Chyann Smith had five points and four rebounds, Kallie Croker had five points, Erin Schuelke had four points and three rebounds, and Megan Miller netted three points.

"Physical game tonight that we lost the battle on the boards," said Storm Lake head coach Mel Fisher. "Too many offensive rebounds we gave up that accounted for many extra points. Emily had a nice night down low. It was senior night tonight, nice to honor our seven seniors and their commitment to the program, Erin, Kallie, Megan, Chyann, Brenna (Richter), Emily, and Annabelle (Eades).

The Tornadoes are on the road Friday at Cherokee.
