Storm Lake Rotary Club member and 16-year bell-ringer veteran Doc Stepan, shared some of his experience with Hy-Noon Kiwanis member and first-year bell-ringer, Lori Cherrier at Hy-Vee on Dec. 15.
With four Saturdays in December before the Christmas holiday and some decent weather helping the volunteers, 2012 was a record-smashing year for the Salvation Army Bell Ringing in Storm Lake.

A local militia of 60 volunteers manned the entries of Walmart, Fareway and Hy-Vee on the four Saturdays before Christmas. They found some amazing generosity and collected a bell-ringing record total of over $9,430.

The contributions of all the donors and volunteers will always be very much appreciated. The exemplary cooperation of the three businesses and their employees is to be highly commended. The combined efforts allow the Salvation Army to provide for the needs of your fellow citizens in the Storm Lake area.

The 2012 volunteers were: Deloris Britt, Anna Speers, Todd Erskine, Randy Weflen, Patrick Diekman, Matt Cooke, Matt Younie, Rhonda Boesenberg, Breanna Plat. Rev. Don Keeler, Carl Turner, Russ Eddie, Chris Strader, Brad Strader, Ann Hill, Kami Jorgensen, Clayton Christensen, Duff Stepan, Kyle Bartz, Dan Jones, Ron Willer, Ron Bryan, Curt Reis, Chris Reis, Buzz Paterson, Lorri Glawe, Matt Phillips, Paula and Palmer Olson, Judy and Frank Parker, Tom Daniels, Dan and Erin Nguyen, Mary Eckerman, Kathleen Eckerman, Heidi Rusley, Deb Reiersen, Diane Allen, Ladene Ponsor, Bev Nelson, Bill Baughman, Arvid Baughman, Lori Cherrier, Bob Wilson, Bob North, Duane Fitchett, Melinda Cords, Carol Wadsley, Sally Anderson, LeAnn Wittmaack, Mark Shea, Randy Johnson, Charlie Larson, Clark Fort, Lana Ivlyeva, Les Vohs, Pastor Matt Miller, Aryn Lessmeier, Duane and Donna Queen, Martha Vielma, Kim and Dale Carver.
