STORM LAKE - The Storm Lake girls had their first victory in two and half years within reach as a Brenna Richter three had the green and white just four points down of Emmetsburg in the fourth quarter Friday night. However, the Tornadoes couldn't find a single basket the remainder of the way as they were held scoreless for the final six minutes in a 60-43 loss.

The Tornadoes trailed 20-11 after one, but a trio of threes from Chyann Smith and Rylee James brought them within one point in the second. The E-Hawks would find some breathing room by halftime, however, at 33-24.

On a night where they would knock down nine three-pointers, the Tornadoes hung around after three quarters of play, trailing just 47-40, but their ice-cold fourth quarter sent them to their 17th straight loss this season.

The win pushed the E-Hawks to 2-13 on the year. They were led by 20 points from Ashton Connelly, Alexa Naig had 15, and Hadley Egland turned in 10.

The Tornadoes were led by Richter's 12 points. Smith finished with nine, Emily Johnson seven, Erin Schuelke five, Megan Miller four, and Callie Kroker three.

Storm Lake remains at home Tuesday night to take on Spencer.
