NEWELL - Newell-Fonda built a 33-19 halftime lead, and held off a slight Laurens-Marathon surge in the third quarter, as they posted a 63-47 win on their home court Tuesday night.
Dalton Anderson knocked down 9-of-13 for the Mustangs, finishing with 21 points and four steals. Brady Dicks reached double figures for the third straight game with 11 points and three steals. Dillon Anderson scored eight points, Rigo Johnson had six and five assists, Jake Hahn scored five, and Brady Bohe had five and five assists.
The Mustangs got to the line for just three free throw attempts but knocked down 8-of-13 three point attempts on the night.
Seth Hersom turned in 23 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for the Chargers. Tyler Stumbo netted 18 points, six rebounds and five assists. Laurens-Marathon was hampered by 21 turnovers on the night.
The Mustangs improve to 11-4 with the victory. The win marked career victory #401 for Newell-Fonda boy's head coach Paul Loos, who eclipsed #400 last Friday against Prairie Valley.
Laurens-Marathon drops to 9-7 with the loss. They host Prairie Valley Friday night.
