Already, 100 days of school have passed - and that is something to celebrate! Students at Alta and Aurelia elementaries observed this milestone earlier this week. The celebration is always one filled with fun - and silly hats and silly snacks created by students sharing 100 snack items for the teacher to combine together! At Aurelia, students always bring a dollar bill and the money goes to some cause. In the past the money has been used to buy high chairs at the day care, for 100 flowers at the Sunset Knoll care center, for the construction of the community center, for city park equipment, to purchase items for Afghanistan children and to purchase books. This year it was decided to do something for themselves; specifically buying outdoor snow scoops - something the Aurelia students love to use outside. The 100th day is a good opportunity for the young students to practice counting to 100 as they do that several times throughout the day.
