The Alta Kiwanis Club met Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Wel-Life.
Mayor Ron Neulieb spoke to the group on a number of City of Alta issues. The drinking water system needs to be replaced. Approximate cost of project is $1.2 million and won't be completed until May or June. The Alta Library Board has chosen Andrea Hogrefe as its new director. Andrea attended Creighton University and is a native of Albert City.
A committee has been set up to develop a walking and biking trail around the city of Alta. The development of this project would benefit children living in the west trailer court. The trail would provide a route to high school-elementary building.
The waste water project is complete. Lake Creek is also now connected to the Alta waste water site.
Repairs to West First Street will take place this summer.
The plans to put up an electronic message board are progressing. Still needed to complete this project is $3,500. Horizons group of Alta is sponsoring this project.

* Jan. 31 - Alta Kiwanis has been invited to a luncheon program hosted by Aurelia Kiwanis. The meal set to begin at 11:45 a.m.
* Feb.14: Valentine's Day supper at Hoodlebug for Kiwanis members and spouses.
* Feb.15: pop can collection.
* Feb. 21: Kiwanis serve pancakes to A-A high school and elementary students.
Alta Kiwanis received a $3,500 grant from NE/IA Kiwanis Foundation. This money is designated to A-A music department.
