SAC CITY - Going for their third straight victory, the Alta-Aurelia boys trekked to Sac City Friday, but the Warriors found themselves outgunned as they dropped a 70-48 final.
The Raiders, riding a 25-point, six assist effort from Reed Tellinghuisen, built a 25-12 lead after one quarter, which they would extend to 50-25 by halftime.
The Warriors shot a respectable 21-of-45 from the floor, but they knocked down just 4-of-12 three-pointers and 2-of-4 foul shots, compared to 12 threes and 10 free throws for the Raiders.
Jayson Van Haaften led the Warriors in the loss with 12 points, three rebounds and four assists. Colton Ballantyne had 10 points and four boards, Titus Letzring had seven points, nine rebounds and four blocks, and Mitchel McDonald had seven points and three rebounds.
"East Sac put on a shooting display for us in the first half," said A-A head coach Randy Bissen. "They made 11 threes and we didn't have an answer to it. We never gave up, though, as we outscored them by three in the second half. Jayson and Colton had a nice game for us as they made some outside shots. Titus had a nice game as well. I love the effort we bring each night. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team"
The Warriors (6-8) look to bounce back at home tonight as they take on Sioux Central (4-9).
