BURNSIDE - The Newell-Fonda girls rolled to 14-1 Friday night on the road as they had little trouble taking care of Southeast Webster-Grand in a 71-37 final.
"Our kids played great team basketball," said Newell-Fonda head coach Dick Jungers. "They worked the ball well and found the open shooters. I was very pleased at our defense and their ability to dictate the tempo."
Three different Mustangs reached double figures in the win, led by 15 from Andrea Christensen. She added three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Renee Maneman turned in 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals, Claudia Larsen had 11 points and nine rebounds, Brianna Wells had nine points and three rebounds, Jordan Wilken had seven points and two steals, and Marianna Overgaard scored six.
The Mustangs led 21-7 after one, 41-17 at half and 64-27 after three.
The 3rd-ranked Mustangs are at home for three straight this week as they take on Laurens-Marathon tonight, Spencer Thursday and South Central Calhoun Friday.
