Class 1A kicks off on February 7th, and third-ranked Newell-Fonda (14-1) received a first-round bye in Region 2. The Mustangs are off until the 12th, when they host either Paton Churdan (7-7) or Coon-Rapids-Bayard (4-11). The winner will be back in Newell on Friday the 15th to take on Northeast Hamilton (4-11), CAL, Latimer (1-14), Glidden-Ralston (0-14) or Southeast Webster (7-8). The Regional final will be held in Fort Dodge on February 18th. The other half of the Region 2 bracket consists of: Riceville (2-13), Clarksville (13-2), Rockford (6-9), Janesville (14-3), Newman Catholic (2-13), Northwood-Kensett (10-5), CWL, Corwith (1-13), and #13 North Iowa (13-3).
Class 1A Region 1 pits Twin Lakes foes Laurens-Marathon (2-13) and Storm Lake, St. Mary's (3-11) together in the opening round on the 7th in Storm Lake. The winner meets West Bend-Mallard (6-8) or Bishop Garrigan (7-10) in the following round in Laurens. The semifinal will be held in Hartley against either Remsen St. Mary's (7-6), Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn (2-11) or #10 West Sioux (10-3).
The other half of the brackets pairs Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven Ayrshire (4-10) vs. Clay Central Everly (12-2), Spalding Catholic (4-10) vs. George Little Rock (9-7) and #4 Central Lyon (13-2) against the winner of Trinity Christian (5-9) and Harris-Lake Park (9-6).
Class 2A action opens on the 9th, and Sioux Central will be at home in their opener against Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn. The winner advances on to Milford on the 12th to take on Okoboji. Either North Union, Emmetsburg or Pocahontas Area await on the 15th back in Milford, and top-ranked Western Christian likely awaits in the regional final on the 18th.
In Region 8, Alta-Aurelia and Ridge View square off on the 9th in Holstein, with the winner advancing to travel to 10th-ranked Hinton on the 12th. 4th-ranked Lawton-Bronson looms in the other half of the bracket.
In Class 4A, the Storm Lake girls open on the road against Lakes Conference foe LeMars on the 13th. The winner meets top-ranked Bishop Heelan on the 16th in Sioux City.
