Warriors dropped by Braves, 63-36

ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia girls overcame a slow start that saw them trailing 19-4 after one, closing within 12 midway through the third quarter, but the Warriors couldn't string together the offense consistently enough as they fell to Cherokee Thursday, 63-36.

Alta-Aurelia finished just 12-of-45 (27%) from the floor and 9-of-21 (43%) at the foul line in the loss.

Taler Stanton had another nice night for the Warriors, turning in 13 points and eight rebounds despite battling foul trouble in the second half. Jenna Snyder pulled down 11 rebounds to go with three assists and three points, Micah Barnes had six points and three boards, Steph Robbins had five points and three rebounds, and Val Hernandez had four points, five rebounds and two assists.

Alta-Aurelia trailed 32-15 at half and 44-24 after three.

The win is the fourth in the last six games for the Braves since Megan Carlson's return to the lineup. Carlson netted 14 points, three assists and three steals Thursday. Megan Hummel scored 21 and had seven steal and Kaely Hummel had 14 points, five rebounds, seven assists and six steals. The Braves knocked down nine threes in the win, improving to 5-10.

The Warriors drop to 3-11 on the season and will host Sioux Central Tuesday night.
