Tornado swimming falls to Spencer, 107-45
STORM LAKE - The Storm Lake boy's hosted their home invite at Finkbine Natorium Tuesday night on the campus of Buena Vista University, and the Tornadoes would end up falling to Spencer/Spirit Lake by a final of 107-45.
The Tornadoes were led by Maxwell Lalone who broke his own school record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.44. See Poe was also fourth in the event at 29.21.
The Tornadoes were second in the 200 medley relay of Jake Smith, Lalone, Malcolm Smith and Poe at 2:08.89. Malcolm Smith was second in the 100 free at 56.66, as was Kevin Carcamo in the 500 free at 8:30.22. Lalone was second in the 100 breast stroke, and the 200 free relay of Lalone, Smith, Poe and Smith was second at 1:45.66.
Third went to Jose Candelario in the 100 butterfly at 1:43.54 and Malcolm Smith in the 100 back stroke at 1:16.61. The 400 free relay of Carcamo, Candelario, Tutu Poe and See Poe was also third at 4:56.11. Fourth went to Phillip Bond in the 100 free at 1:19.63, Kristian Kelly in the 100 breast at 1:37.65 and the 200 free relay team of Kelly, Candelario, Tutu Poe and Elvis Castro at 2:03.23.
Fifth went to Bond in the 100 back (1:42.16) and Jake Smith in the 100 breast (1:39.24).
The Tornadoes turned in 20 personal bests in 39 events Tuesday.
Storm Lake returns to the water next Thursday in Carroll.
