The Alta Planning and Zoning board has been meeting frequently as they update city ordinances. Itwas pointed out at the Alta City Council meeting last week that the state requires cities to review ordinances every three years and every five years the ordinances must be available in hard copy form so the public has the opportunity to see them. this is the year to get them in print.
The P&Z's job is also to make recommendations to the council.
Member Les Mann asked the board if this board of unelected citizens could receive compensation for their time. Council member Pam Henderson commented, "The P&Z is more activeand needs to be. I believe it's a good thing."
Elected members of city boards (council, parkutilities) are compensated. The request was tabled until city budget talks take place.
