Crime: Police respond to large fight in the wee hours Sunday in SL

Storm Lake Police are asking for the public's help to resolve a disturbance early Sunday that resulted in hospitalization of one man and two arrests with more expected.

At approximately 4:36 a.m. officers were dispatched to the intersection of East 1st Street and Kenzy Street for a fight involving numerous people.

As police arrived, they found the crowd had dispersed and one male subject was on the ground who was suffering from injuries to his face. The male, identified as Khajuan Harris, age 18 of Storm Lake, was transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where he was treated and later released to police.

Officers located a second person allegedly involved in the fight in a residence at 136 Highway Street. Policed identified the second person as Kevin Yang, age 20 of Storm Lake. As police took Yang into custody he allegedly resisted officers but was quickly subdued. Yang was also displaying abrasions which occurred during the fight in the street earlier.

Following an investigation police charged Yang with Disorderly Conduct, Interference with Official Acts and Possession of Alcohol. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $900 cash bond.

Police charged Harris with Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication. He was booked into the county jail on a $600 cash bond.

Police report that several people had fled from the scene prior to their arrival. Anyone with information on the fight is asked to contact the Police Department at 712-732-8010. The incident remains under investigation and additional arrests are anticipated.

The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Buena Vista County Paramedics.
