Funeral Mass were held Monday, Jan. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda was in charge of the arrangements.
Gloria Mae Montpetit was born May 31, 1933 in Somerset, Wis. the daughter of Edward and Goldie (Leske) Montpetit. In 1933, she was baptized at Saint Anne in Somerset and later confirmed at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Farmington, Wis.
Growing up, she attended Forest Hill Country School in Farmington and graduated from Osceola, Wis. in 1951.
Gloria was united in marriage to Eugene Kilbride. Together, they were blessed with seven children: Vicki, Roxanne, Mike, Pat, Scott, Casey and Holly. They were later divorced.
Gloria was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda where she belonged to the Holy Family Society.
Gloria worked as a Certified Nurses Aid at the Fonda Nursing and Rehab Center for 40 years. She retired on Dec. 8, 2012.
In her spare time, she enjoyed planting flowers around the house and feeding the squirrels. She enjoyed watching game shows on the television and visiting with friends. Celebrating her birthday and Christmas with her family were very special memories. Gloria treasured her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include seven children and their spouses: Vicki Ulven (friend, Bill Mason) of Storm Lake; Roxanne (Elmer) Smith of Missouri Valley; Mike Kilbride (friend, Deb) of Omaha, Neb.; Pat (Sandy) Kilbride of Sac City; Scott Kilbride of Fonda; Casey Kilbride of Fonda; Holly (Bart) Dischler of Spencer. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren: Chad Bals, Jared Bals, Jason Smith, Justin Smith, Jennifer Smith, Shawn Kilbride, Becky Kilbride, Bill Kilbride, Kelly Kilbride, Candace Kilbride, Tim Kilbride, Laura Kilbride, Nathan Dischler, Nick Dischler; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Robert (Carol) Montpetit of Milltown, Wis.; William (Margie) Montpetit of Osceola, Wis.; Daniel Montpetit (friend, Rita) of St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters: Ione (Jerry) Newton of Universal City, Texas; Phyllis (Jim) Boerner of Sheboygan, Wis.; extended family and friends.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Goldie Montpetit; one sister, Diane Kapusinski; and one brother, David Montpetit.
