Silk Screen Ink sells two divisions, but retains services in Storm Lake

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Although Silk Screen Ink in Storm Lake has sold two of its divisions, its owner says customers can expect services to remain the "same as always."

Jay Butterfield, who started the Storm Lake-based company 30 years ago, told the Pilot-Tribune that Sioux City-based screen printing, embroidery, trophy and awards retailer Wall of Fame has acquired Silk Screen's screen printing and embroidery branches.

"In Storm Lake, customers won't know anything is different," Butterfield said. "Everyone is still employed and we are busy."

Butterfield said he sought the sale since he is close to retirement age, but wants to ensure his 40 workers remain employed.

Favorite core services will remain the same, such as digital printing, decals, direct-to-garment, embroidery and screen printing.

Following the sale, screen printing will be handled in Sioux City, but will still be available from Silk Screen's Storm Lake location.

Customers can expect new products to be added soon, including Under Armour sports performance clothing.
