SL can't keep pace with LeMars

STORM LAKE - The Storm Lake girls had their second-highest scoring outing of the season Friday night, but they were unable to keep up with LeMars as they fell to 0-12 in a 74-40 final.

The Tornadoes held a 10-4 lead in the early going, but the would build a 21-15 edge by the end of the first, and 40-22 by the end of the half.

Emily Pick knocked down six three-pointers on her way to a game-high 20 for the Bulldogs. Carolyn Ahlers added 10, Meredith Rand had nine and Britney Thompson eight. The win pushes the Mustangs to 4-8 overall and 4-3 in the Lakes Conference.

Emily Johnson led the Tornadoes with 14 points on the night. Chyann Smith knocked down four threes for 12 points and Brenna Richter and Megan Miller had seven apiece.

The Tornadoes are back at home Tuesday night to take on top-ranked Western Christian.
