NEWELL - Just as the girls did, the Newell-Fonda boys jumped up two classes and suffered a loss Thursday night, falling to Estherville-Lincoln Central by three, 59-56, but they too would bounce back on Friday, notching a 66-44 victory over Prairie Valley.
The Mustangs let one get away Thursday as they led 15-13 after one, 32-23 at half and 44-31 after three. The Midgets exploded for 28 fourth quarter points to rally for the win.
Brady Dicks had 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals to lead the Mustangs in the loss. Dillon Anderson had 12 points and four boards, Rigo Johnson 12 points and four assists and Andrew Temple nine points and five rebounds.
There would be no such comeback Friday as the Mustangs opened the game with an 18-4 edge after one and closed with a 23 points fourth quarter.
Anderson netted 19 points and eight steals Friday, Zak Sievers had 15, Andrew Temple had eight points and four steals, and Jake Hahn and Matt Juilfs scored seven apiece.
The Mustangs sit at 9-3 on the season with the wins and will look for a bit of revenge Tuesday night as they travel to Storm Lake to take on the 2nd-ranked Panthers. Newell-Fonda fell in overtime in their earlier meeting this season, 58-56.
