Mayme Ruth O'Brien was born on Dec. 31, 1929, the daughter of Harry William and Flo Ella (Darr) O'Brien. She received her grade school education at Marathon and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1948.
On Aug. 12, 1950, Ruth was united in marriage to LeRoy Galbraith in Lawton. They made their home in Sac City where LeRoy farmed. This union was blessed with four children: Terri, Connie, Debbie and Mike.
Ruth was an accounting practitioner and worked for Clifton's Tax Service in Storm Lake until she opened her own business in Sac City in 1980. She retired in 2004. Ruth enjoyed reading, going to Sloan with LeRoy and loved bowling. Ruth's family brought her great joy. She loved spending time with them and attending their activities when they were younger. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her daughters: Terri (Bob) Coats of Sac City; Connie Galbraith of Des Moines; Debbie Flinn of Indianola; son, Mike (Lori) Galbraith of Sac City; grandchildren: Jennifer (Rick) Soll of Sac City; Jill (John) Brinkman of Early; Justin (Carrie) Coats of Sac City; Tyler and Jessica Flinn of Indianola; Christina Galbraith of Sac City and Gavin Galbraith of Omaha, Neb.; great-grandchildren: Larissa Coats and Dylan Soll of Sac City; Sonnie Michelle and Maymie and Hayden Brinkman of Early; Riley Coats of Sac City; and Cash Coats of Sac City; and many extended family members.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband LeRoy, Aug. 30, 2011; and son-in-law David Flinn.
