ISU Extension in Buena Vista County will be hosting a babysitting clinic for youth in fifh grade and older on Feb. 2, March 2, April 6 and June 5 from 9 a.m.- noon. The Clinic will be held at the AEA Meeting Room at 824 Flindt Drive in Storm Lake. A fee of $10 covers the "Babysitting Basics" snacks and childcare resources. Financial assistance is available.
According to Debbie Erpelding, County Youth Coordinator and facilitator for the clinic, "The topics covered in the clinic include: the responsibilities of a baby-sitter, employer expectations, caring for infants and young children, age appropriate toys and activities, safety and how to handle emergencies, and basic first aid and rescue breathing. It is a great opportunity for youth to learn what is involved in being a babysitter. In order to get the most out of the clinic, we ask that all participants plan to attend all four sessions and participate in class activities".
