Tornado grapplers fall to Spirit Lake, Emmetsburg

EMMETSBURG - The Storm Lake wrestling team returned to action Thursday night, dropping a pair of Lakes Conference duals to Class 2A's 10th-ranked Spirit Lake, 54-29, and Class 1A's 3rd-ranked Emmetsburg, 58-21.

Against Spirit Lake, Anthony Talamantes fell to top-ranked Doug Miner at 120 by fall, Darren Eades won by fall over Ben Parks in 1:18, Juan Figueroa won by forfeit at 132, Juan Morales lost by fall in 0:24 in 138, Cesar Loera lost by fall in 1:08 to Kenten Murray, Cole Feltner lost by fall in 2:06 to David Trucksess at 152, Austin Patrick won by fall in 0:36 at 160, Noel Buenelos won 15-0 over Javier Tapia and Nate Carlson won by forfeit at 285.

Against Emmetsburg, Talamantes lost by fall in 0:18 to Jake Miller, Eades lost 12-1 to Nicholas Merwald, Figueroa won by fall in 1:15 over Chance Saathoff, improving to 8-0 on the season, Morales won 14-10 over Chris VanHuevelen, Caleb Hinners lost by fall in 0:54 at 145, Feltner won by fall in 0:57 over Joe Schmidt, Patrick won by forfeit, Buenelos lost by fall to Nick Schany in 3:31 and Carlson lost by fall in 0:50 to Tayler Wegner.

The Tornadoes return to the mat today to take on Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.
