A trial for a 36-year old Rembrandt man facing 66 felony charges for allegedly sexually abusing two 15-year old girls has been delayed.
Cory Wernimont's trial was originally scheduled Jan. 8 but has now been set for March 5.
County Attorney Dave Patton told the Pilot-Tribune Cory Wernimont's defense has been granted a continuance in order for a hired expert to review DNA test results.
Wernimont was charged in August 2012 for sexually assaulting a 15-year old girl at least four times Aug. 6 at his home in the 1100 block of 510th Street. Additional investigation has led officials to a second victim, who was allegedly sexually abused at Wernimont's home at least twice a month, from November 2009 through August 2012, starting when the girl was 13-years old.
According to jail records, Wernimont remains free on bond.
