Residents of Buena Vista County are encouraged to participate in the Live Healthy Iowa 10 Week Wellness Challenge beginning Jan. 28. This challenge is simple, affordable and even includes a little healthy competition.
"The Live Healthy Iowa 10 Week Wellness Challenge is a great wellness initiative, and we are encouraging all residents to participate in the 12th anniversary of the challenge this year," says Rob Colerick, CEO of Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.
As part of the challenge, participants form teams of two to 10 adults to motivate and support each other in achieving their fitness and weight loss goals. Each week, Live Healthy team members report physical activity and/or weight loss as part of friendly competition.
In 2012, Live Healthy Iowa announced the Corporate and Community Cup Challenge encouraging companies and communities to compete for the coveted traveling trophy. New in 2013, schools are encouraged to participate in the K-12 Cup Challenge with Live Healthy Iowa Kids' 10 Week Wellness Challenge.
Specifically, the Community Cup Challenge will engage cities, counties or regions in a healthy competition. The winner of the Community Cup Challenge will be determined by the highest percentage of people who start and compete the adult challenge in addition to participants in the kids' version of the challenge as compared to population data.
