Clarence "Bud" Weiland, age 80, of Storm Lake died Dec. 26, 2012 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
Clarence "Bud" Weiland was born Oct.13, 1932 in Woden the son of Clarence and Leona (Monson) Weiland. As an infant, he was baptized and later confirmed.
Growing up, Bud attended school and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1951.
In September 1953, Bud entered the United States Army where he served his country during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in September 1955.
On June 17, 1961, Bud was united in marriage to Bernice Logemann at Deer Creek Valley in Northwood. Together, they were blessed with one son, Brian.
Bud was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where he was a member of the church board. He also served as the church custodian for many years.
Bud enjoyed working for the Iowa Department of Transportation for several years. After retiring, he began working for a plumbing and heating company. He mentioned he was going to retire, but never did. In his spare time, he loved fishing. Bud always put others first and was willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He treasured his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Bud will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Bernice Weiland of Storm Lake; son, Brian (Kris) Weiland of Johnston; brother, Don (Darlene) Weiland of Britt; sisters, Imogene (John) Burgardt of Britt; Lois (Chuck) Conaway of Britt; Diane (Roger) McKinney of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Leona Weiland; brothers, Larry and Dean Weiland; and one sister, Darlene Dunbar.
