Dorian Honor Choir is one of the largest, highest quality, and best run honor choirs in the Midwest. There are usually approximately 1,200 singers in this honor choir from Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Schools are allowed to nominate exemplary singers, and they are accepted according to director's notes and voice needs for the choir according to balance needs. They rehearse starting at noon on Jan. 13, and rehearse through the day. That evening, there is a concert that includes the Luther College freshmen men's and women's choirs, and an exemplary guest high school choir.
Jan. 14 is spent rehearsing all day, with a final concert that night, including the festival honor choir, the Nordic Choir, Luther's top auditioned choir and renowned as one of the best collegiate choirs in the Midwest, and also students who have been chosen as outstanding soloists during auditions the two days of the festival.
It is a great opportunity for our students to experience something bigger than what they would get in our small town, to hear some of the best choirs in the Midwest, and to build camaraderie over the weekend.
