Ten different Mustangs made their way into the scoring column, led by a game-high 17 from Renee Maneman, who hit on 8-of-10 from the floor and added seven steals. Maddi Morenz also notched seven steals and added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Claudia Larsen had eight points and four rebounds, Taiyler Schrank had seven points and four assists, Brianna Wells had five points, Andrea Christensen and Morgan Magnussen had three apiece, and Jordan Wilken, Tayler Lago and Hailey Falline had two apiece.
The Mustangs hit on 26-of-53 from the field. Their impressive defensive effort netted 22 steals on the night.
"We were able to get out to a fast start in this one," said Newell-Fonda head coach Dick Jungers. "The girls played well."
Alta-Aurelia was led by six points from Cristena Heschke. Tayler Rohwer, Katie Turnquist and Taler Stanton had four points apiece.
The Mustangs move to 9-0 with the win and wrap up the 2012 portion of their schedule at Hinton tonight. Alta-Aurelia drops to 2-7 with the loss and is off until after the break. They resume play on January 4th at home against Southeast Webster.
