Carlson named NAIA All-American
ORANGE CITY - Jordan Carlson (Storm Lake, Iowa) was named to the 2012 AFCA/NAIA Coaches' All-America team as announced by the American Football Coaches Association and NAIA national office. Carlson is one of two players (Dexter Davis of Friends University) to earn the national honor for the second straight year.
JordanCarlson, the 2012 GPAC defensive player of the year and 2012 BSN preseason All-American, led the Red Raider defense with 63.5 tackles, including 42 solo stops and 18 for a loss of 73 yards. A repeat first-team all-GPAC selection, Carlson led the GPAC with nine sacks, ranking eighth in the NAIA, and forced five fumbles to go with 14 quarterback hurries. He finished his two-year career at Northwestern with 115 tackles, 32.5 for a loss, 12.5 sacks and seven force fumbles. Carlson also earned BSN All-American honors in 2011.
Northwestern finished the season ranked 12th in the final NAIA coaches' poll with a 9-3 record, losing to #5 Marian (Ind.) in the first round of the NAIA football championship series.
