Band Perry in area country show

Friday, December 21, 2012

Trending group The Band Perry teams with Rascal Flatts, in a big show January 17, 7:30 p.m. at the Tyson Events Center.

Tickets are $24.75 / $59.75, still available through Ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.

The Band Perry is fresh off a performance on "The 46th Annual CMA Awards," Nov. 1. They claimed three CMA Awards in 2011 for New Artist of the Year; and Single and Song of the Year for "If I Die Young," which was written by Kimberly Perry.

They are nominated for Vocal Group of the Year in 2012.

The band is composed of Kimberly Perry (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano) and her two brothers: Reid Perry (bass guitar, background vocals) and Neil Perry (mandolin, drums, accordion, background vocals).

They were born in Mobile, Alabama, and grew up in Greeneville, Tenn. The trio owes its unique sound to its parents. "Most dads would be rocking their kids to sleep singing 'Rock-a-bye Baby,' " Kimberly says. "Our dad was singing us Rolling Stones songs, and our mom loves country. They definitely cross-pollinated our musical palette..." The trio signed with Republic Nashville after signing with Garth Brooks' manager in 2008. The Perrys have just returned from touring in Europe.
