NEWELL - The surging Newell-Fonda boy's basketball team picked up their fifth straight victory Friday night as they took down a Manson Northwest Webster team that entered a 6-1 by a final of 63-53.
"It was a very tough defensive game in the first half," said N-F head coach Paul Loos. "Both teams put a lot of pressure on the basketball. We were able to relax more in the second half and get into a better offensive flow. Our pressure created us some easy score opportunities in the second half. It was a good conference win against a strong Manson NWW team."
The Mustangs trailed 24-22 at the half, but they would net 18 points in the third, and 23 in the fourth, as they outscored MNWW 41-29 in the second half.
Rigo Johnson led four players in double figures with 13 on the night. Dalton Anderson had 12 points and six boards, Brady Bohe had 12 points, Brady Dicks had 10, Dillon Anderson eight and Andrew Temple seven.
The Mustangs hit on 24-of-44 from the field.
Newell-Fonda (5-2) has two games left before the break as they visit Alta-Aurelia tonight and Hinton on Thursday.
