Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at the gymnasium of the upper elementary school in Galva. Burial was in the Galva Township East Cemetery in Galva, with full military rites. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Dillion Donald Naslund was born July 2, 1987 in Storm Lake, the son of Jeffrey and Lisa (Stanley) Naslund. As an infant, he was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Galva where he was later confirmed.
Growing up, he attended Galva Holstein Community High School where he graduated in 2006.
Dillion entered the United States Army on March 25, 2005 where he was later deployed to Iraq on June 4, 2007 until May of 2008. He was deployed to Afghanistan on Aug. 2, 2010 until Sept. 8, 2011. While serving his country, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Afghan Campaign and the Iraq Campaign and two Army Achievement Medals.
Dillion was a member of the Galva Fire Department. He enjoyed four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, and target practice. Dillion also enjoyed small engine mechanics. Sunday was a very important day for Dillion where he enjoyed playtime on the farm and family dinners. He was also competitive in BBQ competitions. Dillion enjoyed hanging out with family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Jeff and Lisa Naslund of Galva; sisters: Krystal (Craig) Peterson of Galva; Shelveé Naslund (Travis Ballard) of Sioux City; nephews: Landyn Peterson, Cameron and Bentley Ballard; nieces: Layla Peterson and RaeLyne Ballard and Baby Peterson number three; extended family and many friends.
Dillion was preceded in death by his grandparents: Earl and Lola Naslund and Earl and Clara Stanley.
