Court documents indicate that a plea bargain was offered to Cory Wernimont, 36, with a deadline of December 10, but no indication was given that he or his attorney had accepted an agreement or changed his not guilty plea.
The most recent filing from the defense was a request for an order to hire an expert witness from Genetic Technologies, presumable to testify of results of DNR testing. The court has approved the hiring at public expense, which is estimated at nearly $4,000.
A witness list includes 17 names of law officers and others expected to be potentially called to the stand during the trial, currently scheduled to begin January 8. A final pre-trial conference is Dec. 20.
