Newell Library celebrates

Monday, December 10, 2012

The Newell Public Library held its annual Cookie Walk and Festival of Trees Open House Coffee recently. The event is looked forward to each holiday season. Live entertainment was provided by Ron Dewey, left , and his clarinet and saxophone. Decorated Christmas trees throughout the library were provided by Newell Good Samaritan Center, The Teen Advisory Committee of the Newell Library, preschool, Newell Library Friends, Newell Historical Society, story hour, retired teachers, Newell Coon Neighbors Club and the 4-H club. Cookies for the cookie walk were provided by members of the community. Visitors had the chance to buy a bucket and fill it with goodies. The cookie walk is a popular event, however, and the key is to get there early! All proceeds from the cookie walk went to Friends of Newell Library. This event is their only fund-raiser for the library. Above, ladies fill their buckets from the grand selection of cookies. Top, Emma, Paige and Grace Ericksen with the gingerbread house they made with their mom was on display at the library. This is the second year the girls have made a candy-coated house for the holidays and shared it with the library. /Photos by Lorri Glawe
