Defending champ Western too strong for Tornadoes

HULL - Brooke Wolterstorff turned in 19 points and nine rebounds, and Western Christian received 12 more points from Shae Dejager and 10 from Jamie Gesink as the defending champion Wolfpack downed Storm Lake Tuesday night, 86-11.

Top-ranked Western Christian led 31-4 after one, 57-7 at half and 73-7 after three.

They shot 30-of-67 from the floor, 10-of-20 from three and 16-of-23 at the line. They outrebounded the green and white 45-22 and came up with 24 steals.

Chyann Smith led Storm Lake with three points and four rebounds. Erin Schuelke, Brenna Richter, Kallie Croker and Emily Johnson added two points apiece as the Tornadoes fell to 0-5 on the season.

Storm Lake returns home Friday night to host Class 3A's 4th-ranked Spirit Lake (4-1).
