Kies, who earns the honors for the first time in her career, averaged 17.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in three games during the week, including a 20-point effort during the team's 67-64 home victory over Bethany Lutheran last Tuesday. She matched her career-high with that total, and it was her jumper late which pushed BVU's lead to five at 67-62 with under 30 seconds to play.
In wins over Northwestern College (MN) and Crown College last Friday and Saturday, she followed with 18 points and 15 points, respectively, while also dishing out five assists against the Storm.
She finished the week shooting better than 51 percent from the field, including 44 percent (8-of-18) from long range. For the year, she leads the team in scoring (13.7ppg) and has made a team and a league-high 15 three-point buckets, moving her into a tie for 10th on the program's all-time list for three-point makes (90).
Kies becomes the first player to receive such recognition for the program since Jessica Christensen did so on December 18 of last year.
