Frances Ann (Castle) Peterson, age 79, Alta, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at the Spencer Hospital of Spencer. A memorial service was held on Monday, Dec. 3 at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta with the Rev. Don E. Rothweiler officiating. Burial will be at a later date. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta was in charge of the arrangements.
Frances Ann was born on Feb. 11, 1933 to Francis E. (Bug) Castle and Anna (Ankerson) Castle of Alta. She graduated from Alta High School in 1951.
In 1955, she married Thomas S. (Pete) Peterson. To the marriage, they had two children, daughter, Sande and son, Tom.
Fran enjoyed many things in her life, family and friends being the most important. She was a self-taught wood carver and sewed Hardanger. Golf was a sport that she enjoyed throughout her life and was ready to challenge anyone to a match.
Together Pete and Fran ran The Peterson Insurance Agency for many years. After retiring they enjoyed traveling to Arizona during the winters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete; her sister, Barbie; and sister-in-law, Eunice.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sande (Peterson) Rodemeyer and husband, Brian of Algona and Tom Peterson of Calsbad, Calif.; two grandchildren, Abby Person and husband, Ryan of North Liberty and Tim Rodemeyer and wife Molly of Emmetsburg; three great-grandchildren, Julia, Sloan and Cael; her brother, Willis "Buster" Castle and wife Joy of Roswell, NM; brother-in-law, Les Watson of Sherman, Texas; and many other family and friends.
