Fascination with the differences, the cultures, the oneness of our world and the hope for peace within it -- this could be considered to be the hope of the holiday season. The Fonda Arts Center develops this theme with its Second Sunday event, Dec. 9, 2-4 p.m. Sing along to favorites of the holiday season, accompanied by the Second Sunday Jammers, and explore the work of artisans from around the world, through the stories of Christine Prois, owner-operator of "Earthings" in Storm Lake.
What do a knitter in Peru, a paper artisan in Vietnam, a soapstone carver in Kenya and a mom in small-town USA have in common? What about a steel oil drum, elephant dung and rice bags? What they have in common is Fair Trade. Christine will tell you about these garbage-type items and about the people who depend on them for a living. An informative, entertaining afternoon at the Fonda Arts Center, on the northwest corner of 4th & Main Streets in Fonda. Free admission, free refreshments!
