Woman and child living with sex offender
On Tuesday, November 20, at approx. 6:50 p.m. Storm Lake Police Officers assisted the Department of Human Services in a child abuse investigation. Police were told that a complaint had been filed to DHS that a female with a 9 month old child had been residing with a registered sex offender at 210 East 13th Street #11. Police and DHS responded to the apartment and located the mother and child living with the sex offender.
Police removed a 9 month old female who was later released to her grandmother. Police also transported the child's mother to the SLPD for questioning and determined that the woman knew that the man was a registered sex offender (Anthony Wolterman, age 30) who was released from the Iowa department of Corrections on Nov. 10, 2012 for multiple sex offender registration violations in Woodbury and Sac Counties. Upon his release, Wolterman moved in with the female and her child.
Police arrested the following:
Lisa Snedeker (age 28) of Storm Lake for Child Endangerment Aggravated Misdemeanor.
Wolterman was booked and held on $2,000 bond. SLPD was assisted by the Iowa department of human services.
Violation of no contact order
On Tuesday, November 20, at approx. 11:44 p.m., Storm Lake Police Officers were called to 700 Lincoln Rd in regards to a violation of a no contact order. Upon arrival, officers were told that a male subject had been sending a female at the residence text messages and that there was a no contact order between the two. Police located the suspect in the case at 1014 Erie and arrested him without incident around 12:11 a.m.
During the arrest the officers learned that the female had also been contacting the male. Officers subsequently arrested both parties. Police arrested the following:
Gilbert Palomares Sr (age 37) of Storm Lake for violation of a no contact order a simple misdimeaner He was booked and held on no bond.
Gloria Palomares (age 39) of Storm Lake for violation of a no contact order simple mis. She was booked and held withoutbond.
On Tuesday, November 20, at 3:28 p.m., Storm Lake Police Officers were dispatched to Wal-Mart, 1831 N. Lake Avenue, for a shoplifter who was in the custody of store security.
On arrival, Officers arrested Leticia Sanchez Argueta, age 37, of Storm Lake for Theft 5th, a simple misdemeanor. Store Loss Prevention Officer observed Sanchez Argueta placing several items of merchandise into her purse and failed to pay for that merchandise when passing through the point of sale, at which time she was stopped. Sanchez Argueta was transported to the BV Co Jail where she was booked and held in lieu of $300 bond.
On November 17, a vandalism was reported in Storm Lake. Total damages were estimated at $100.
On November 10, a theft was reported in Storm Lake. The total value of the items reported missing was estimated at $255.
