SL graduate honored to speak at recognition dinner

Jaci Hermstad, a freshman at Kirkwood Community College, was honored to speak at the Kirkwood Foundation's annual donor recognition dinner on October 17, in Cedar Rapids. Jaci, a 2012 graduate of Storm Lake High School, shared her personal story and perspective as a Kirkwood student and expressed her personal gratitude for being named the recipient of the 2012 Samuel J. Kirkwood Tribute Scholarship. Jaci is pursuing a degree in Ag-Business with a long-term goal to establish and operate a horse therapy ranch.

The primary focus of the Kirkwood Foundation is to help students achieve success in education by offering financial assistance through scholarships. The Foundation also supports instructional excellence and innovation, and provides other targeted assistance as needed. More than $2.4 million in scholarships will be awarded to students at Kirkwood Community College during the current academic year.
