ST. MARY'S LENHART INKS WITH UPPER IOWA
STORM LAKE - St. Mary's senior Luke Lenhart announced his collegiate intentions Wednesday on National Signing Day for college basketball, inking his letter of intent to attend Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.
Lenhart, a guard, averaged 18.4 points per game on 51% shooting last season, including 75 three pointers made at a 49% clip. He also averaged 3.6 assists and 2.6 steals, helping lead St. Mary's to a 27-1 record and a berth in the 1A Semifinals. The Panthers were crowned Class 1A champions two seasons ago. Lenhart earned All-State and All-State Tournament honors both seasons.
"They had recruited me for awhile, and I developed a really good relationship with the coach," said Luke. "I visited the campus and got along really well with the guys. I also committed alongside of three of my AAU teammates with the Iowa Barnstormers. Coach (Brian) Dolan is a relatively new head coach (7th year at the helm). They were a little bit under. 500 last year, but they're ready to turn the corner. I wanted to go there and help them take the next step. It's a very good conference with a lot of good teams. I'm definitely itching to get back out and get my senior year underway."
Lenhart also considered offers from Buena Vista, Northwestern (IA), Briar Cliff and Augustana. He is pictured here with his parents Debra and Ned, as well as St. Mary's head coach Brad Wilkening and assistant coach Nick Landgraf.
