Alta City Council approves snow ban, holiday party, park board members
There is a snow ban in effect in Alta through March 31. The annual ordinance was approved by the Alta City Council last Monday. The two-week warning period will conclude on Nov. 20. Vehicles parked on any of Alta's streets after this date may be ticketed by the BV County Sheriff's department.
The council is considering changing this ordinance to make it more "user friendly" as requested by Sheriff Gary Launderville. The matter will go to the Planning and Zoning Board first and more discussion will be held at the city council table.
Mayor Ron Neulieb suggested to the council that a holiday party for the children of Alta be held next month, with games, refreshments and a visit from Santa. The council agreed. Planning is in the process but save the date of Dec. 15 open. The event will be held in the Alta Community Center from 1:30-4 p.m.
The council was informed that the Alta Library Board is in the process of hiring a new director for the library from a large pool of applicants.
Mayor Neulieb nominated two additional persons to serve on the park board, to bring up the members to five. The council approved the nominees. Tracy Siebrecht will serve a term ending Dec. 31, 2015 and Steve Hamer will serve a term ending Dec. 31, 2013.
