It is described as the world's craziest sport, wilder than a rodeo, funnier than a circus - and it's coming to Sioux Central.

The Sioux Central Partners in Education parents' group will be hosting donkey basketball in their school gym on Saturday, Nov. 17, as a fundraiser for education boosters' group.

Spectators will be entertained by donkey riders made up of family, friends and community members riding trained - and very talented - donkeys in two elimination games and one final championship round.

The donkeys are provided by Dairyland Donkey Basketball LLC of Chippewa Falls, Wisc. The family-owned business has been operating for three generations. Each donkey on the crew has his own talents. Each animal gets the best of care and each one is specially selected to run, buck, duck or lay down.

The show is 90 minutes of wholesome, side-splitting, family fun tournament action. Donkey basketball is billed as the World's Craziest Sport!

The show begins at 7 p.m. but come early to eat.

The Music Boosters will be serving a meal beginning at 5 p.m. The menu includes a smoked pork sandwich, baked beans, ice cream cup and a drink. Free will donations will be accepted. The meal is a fundraiser for the music trip to Chicago in May.

Tickets are available now for $8. The price of the tickets go up to $10 at the door. Preschoolers are free.

For discounted tickets there is an order form on the school website under "upcoming events" which can be downloaded and printed. The order form may faxed to the school at 712-283-2285 or if you have students at Sioux Central, send order form with them and tickets will be sent home with them.

Tickets may also be ordered by contacting the school at 712-283-2571 or stopping by the school. Pre-sale tickets will be sold until the day before the event (Friday, Nov. 16.)

T-shirts will also be on sale the night of the show for $10.
