Jonathan Johnson - Senior - Newell-Fonda

A threat to score every time he touched the ball, Johnson averaged over 12 yards per carry on his way to 1525 rushing yards with 27 touchdowns for the 8-Man quarterfinalists. Johnson also averaged over 23 yards on his 10 catches, piling up 238 yard and 5TDs.

Zak Sievers - Senior - Newell-Fonda

Sievers was a head coach's dream in that he didn't commit a turnover all season throwing the ball, while turning in 17 passing touchdowns in a run-heavy offense. The senior completed 55% of his attempts for 1141 yards and also ran for 917 yards and 13TDs.

Brady Bohe - Junior - Newell-Fonda

The Mustangs' power back piled up 736 yards on just 80 carries and punched in 13 rushing scores on the year. Bohe was second on the team with 94 tackles on the season and two of his three interceptions on the year went back for touchdowns.

Dalton Anderson - Junior - Newell-Fonda

Stepping up as Newell-Fonda's big-play receiver, Anderson took his 22 grabs for 499 yards, better than 22 yards per catch. Anderson hauled in nine touchdown grabs and had a team-best six interceptions defensively to go with 39 tackles.

Jake Hahn - Senior - Newell-Fonda

Shawn Thompson - Junior - Newell-Fonda

Andrew Temple - Junior - Newell-Fonda

Tom Devereaux - Senior - Newell-Fonda

There wasn't a game, and hardly a series, where Newell-Fonda didn't have the advantage in the trenches both offensively and defensively thanks their talented lineman. This group paved the way for over 4000 rushing yards with 72TDs on the year. Defensively, Devereaux had 62 tackles and seven sacks, Temple 52 and three sacks, Hahn 39 and eight sacks and Thompson 32 and two sacks.

Ethan Kenkel - Senior - Storm Lake

The Tornado tight end posted 27 grabs this Fall, totaling 464 yards and 3TDs. Kenkel was a force on the defensive line, totaling 65 tackles, including 10 for a loss, an interception returned for a TD and a fumble recovery.

Aaron Krier - Senior - Storm Lake

Krier finished third in the district in rushing, eclipsing the 1000-yard mark with 1177 on the season with 14TDs. He had nine receptions for 150 yards and 2TDs, and he averaged 31 yards per kick return with a TD. Defensively, he had 31 tackles and two fumble recoveries.

Chase Lange - Junior - Storm Lake

Lange led the Storm Lake defense at the linebacker position, totaling 98 tackles, including five in the backfield and two fumble recoveries. Lange posted 138 rushing yards and a TD, but was used primarily as a lead blocker, keying a SL ground game that totaled nearly 1500 yards this season.

Michael Davidson - Senior - Ridge View

Anchoring the Raptors in the trenches, Davidson totaled 102 tackles on the defensive end, while paving the way for a Ridge View offense that totaled 2999 yards this season on their way to a repeat berth in the postseason.

Dru Kenny - Senior - Ridge View

Kenny averaged 4.7 yards per rush on his way to an even 1000 and 8TDs for the Raptors this season. He also had 19 receptions for 251 yards and 4TDs and added 56 tackles.

Matt Cleveland - Senior - Laurens-Marathon

Leading the Chargers into the second round of the playoffs, Cleveland's first year at QB was a good one as he completed 49% of his pass attempts for 1091 yards with 19TDs and 10INTs. He added 1078 rushing yards and 13TDs, 55 tackles and three interceptions.

Devin Tripp - Soph - Sioux Central

During the regular season, no back in the state shouldered a workload as heavy as Tripp's as he carried a whopping 319 times in 2012. He totaled 1484 yards on the ground and 17TDs. The sophomore also led the defense with 87 tackles on the year with five stops for a loss and two fumble recoveries.

Garrett Van Houten - Senior - Alta-Aurelia

A brutal district slate led to a one-win season for the Warriors, but Van Houten was a bright spot, totaling 75 tackles defensively, including 13 tackles for loss and three sacks. The senior averaged 4.1 yards per carry on his way to 747 yards and 7TDs.

Second Team All-Area

Gabe Podraza - Junior - Newell-Fonda

A hard-hitter out of the secondary, Podraza was third on the Mustangs with 78 stops. He had one interception on the year and two fumble recoveries and averaged 16 yards per kickoff return.

Alex Stephan - Senior - Alta-Aurelia

Stephan battled injuries off and on throughout the season but totaled 251 yards on 53 carries and 4TDs. He led the team with 21 receptions for 265 yards and 2TDs and had 40 tackles defensively.

Jackson Rosenthal - Senior - Alta-Aurelia

Rosenthal led the Warriors with 84 tackles on the season, including nine for a loss and three sacks.

Nic Seaman - Senior - Storm Lake

Seaman completed just under 50% of his throws this season, totaling 1334 yards and 9TDs. Seaman cut his interceptions down to seven from 21 a season ago. He also rushed for 91 yards and 3TDs

Luke Lenhart - Senior - Storm Lake

Lenhart led the Tornadoes with 28 grabs, totaling 428 yards and 3TDs. He added 48 rushing yards and a TD and averaged nine yards per punt return. Defensively, he made 49 stops and had a team-high four interceptions.

Ryan Garthoff - Junior - Ridge View

Garthoff completed 53% of his passes for 1081 yards with 4TDs and 13INTs. He rushed for 600 yards and 7TDs, made 22 tackles and averaged 26 yards per kick return and 11 per punt return.

Nathan Myrice - Senior - Ridge View

Another key cog on a Ridge View line that was the strength of the team, Myrice helped pave the way for backs who totaled 1000, 600 and 260 yards and 18TDs. Defensively, he made 84 stops

Matt Wandrey - Junior - Ridge View

Wandrey totaled 73 stops defensively and added an interception. He also spelled Kenny and Garthoff running the ball, totaling 260 yards on 57 attempts with 2TDs and had 21 grabs for 176 yards.

Colin Lind - Senior - Laurens-Marathon

Lind carried 143 times for 600 yards, averaging 4.2 per attempt. He had a nose for the endzone, scoring 15 rushing TDs. He had seven catches for 122 yards and 2TDs and led the team with 103 tackles and three interceptions.

Will Cleveland - Senior - Laurens-Marathon

Cleveland tied for the top among the area receivers with nine touchdown grabs on 28 catches for 504 yards. Defensively he made 61 tackles and had an interception.

Tyler Stockwell - Senior - Laurens-Marathon

Stockwell anchored the Chargers offensive line as they piled up 3210 yards this season and averaged 35 points per game. Defensively, he made 40 stops along the line and recovered a fumble.

Nathan Leer - Junior - Sioux Central

Leer bulled his way to 500 yards even at 5.1 per pop. He punched in five rushing TDs and led the way on a limited passing game, pulling in five receptions for 106 yards and a TD. Defensively, he made 50 tackles.

Austin Glawe - Senior - Sioux Central

Glawe totaled 49 stops in the Rebel secondary and had a team-high three interceptions and one fumble recovery. He caught three passes for 40 yards, averaged 19 yards per kickoff return and averaged 35 yards per punt with a long of 61.

Honorable Mention

Matt Juilfs - Senior - Newell-Fonda

Defensively, Juilfs snared three interceptions in the N-F secondary and made 30 tackles. At receiver, he had 10 grabs for 192 yards and 2TDs.

Manny Murillo - Junior - Alta-Aurelia

Murillo was second on the Warriors with 82 carries for 374 yards and 3TDs. He had 38 tackles and a fumble recovery defensively.

Connor Napierala - Soph - Alta-Aurelia

Napierala totaled 62 stops defensively and had nine tackles for loss and four sacks.

Jack Hartnett - Senior - Storm Lake

Hartnett finished with 88 tackles in 2012, including seven for a loss.

John Kofmhal - Soph - Ridge View

Kofmhal led the Raptors with 21 receptions for 306 yards and a TD. He added 38 tackles defensively to go with two interceptions.

Jake Simpson - Senior - Laurens-Marathon

Offensively, Simpson rushed for 163 yards and 3TDs. Defensively, he was second on the team with 70 stops and a fumble recovery.
