SL student invited to World Food Prize Global Youth Institute

Phillip Bond with Dr. Tony Bello the inventor of Baked Lays Potato Chips during a lunch at the World Food Prize Conference. Phillip submitted a paper last spring on food security in Guatemala and was able to attend the World Food Prize Youth Institute at Iowa State University.

Phillip's letter was chosen as one of the best and he was then invited to the World Food Prize Global Youth Institute in Des Moines.

The first day was filled with lectures and panels with world leaders. The second day the students and teachers were separated. The teachers had some energizing panels with participants from different countries and global business leaders.The third day was held in Johnston where students meet with peers to discuss their findings.

Phillip is now considering an international internsip with the WFP group next summer.
