A-A Middle School students selected for JH Honor Choir, Honor Band and All-State

Alta-Aurelia Middle School band and choir students will represent the school this week at the Junior High Honor Choir and Honor Band Festivals.

The Honor Band Festival will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at the SLHS. Approximately 300 seventh and eighth grade musicians from 40 Northwest Iowa schools auditionedOct. 13 for places in one of two equal bands. These two honor bands will rehearse during the day Nov. 3 and present a concert at 6 p.m. in the SLHS gym. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Guest conductors for the honor band festival will be Dr. Gary Reeves of Vermillion, SD and David Rutt of Forest City.

The honor choir festival will be held in Storm Lake on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Each participating school in northwest Iowa was asked to select eight students to sing in this choir. These students prepare the festival music and join with the students from the other schools for an all-day rehearsal with their guest director, Gerard Krupke. The students will share their performance with the public at 6 p.m. in the SLHS gym. Concert admission is $4for adults and $2 for students.
