Margaret Reilly, age 95, of Litchfield Park, Ariz.and formerly of Fonda, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 in Avondale, Ariz..
Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fonda. The Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda is in charge of the arrangements.
Margaret Bridget Mackey was born on Nov. 25, 1916, in Fonda, the daughter of John and Agnes (Fitzgerald) Mackey. She graduated from Fonda Public School. After graduation, Margaret became a teacher and taught in country schools for many years.
Margaret was a lifelong resident of Fonda and an active member of the Holy Family Society and Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish.
On Feb. 16, 1940, Margaret was united in marriage to Leonard Reilly. After Leonard's discharge from the service, he and Margaret moved to a farm where she became a farm wife, who took an active part in the farming operation. On Feb. 26, 1947, their daughter, Jean, joined the family and Margaret took on another role, that of being a mom.
When Leonard and Margaret stopped farming, they purchased the City Club Bar on Main Street in Fonda, where she worked for the next few years.
She enjoyed sewing and was a beautiful seamstress, as well as, an excellent cook, baker and all around homemaker. Her five grandchildren and seven great-grandsons were the light of her life and she loved them without question. Margaret was a quiet lady, who never wanted to be in the spotlight, but who would lend a hand whenever, or wherever needed.
Margaret will be remembered and cherished forever by her daughter, Jean (Ed) McDonald of Fonda; five grandchildren: Bridget McDonald; Shawn McDonald; Tim (Nancy) McDonald; Bill (Bonnie) McDonald; and Angela (Bob) Reynolds; seven great grandsons: Dakota McDonald; Keaton and Shane Reynolds; Gabe and Zack McDonald; Braidon and Trey McDonald; many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Reilly; parents, John and Agnes Mackey; sisters: Mary Swan and Kathleen Boettcher; and Jackie Swan.
